April 1–3, 2024 — The Global Disability Summit (GDS) 2024, held on April 2–3, was preceded by a Civil Society Forum on April 1. Members of the International Union of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (IUDPO) attand the summit, contributing to critical discussions on disability rights, inclusive policies, and global solidarity.
The summit brought together world leaders, activists, and experts to address pressing challenges, including inclusive employment, accessible education, technological innovation, and protection of persons with disabilities in crises. High-level speakers included:
· Olaf Scholz (Federal Chancellor of Germany),
· King Abdullah II (Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan),
· Amina Mohammed (UN Deputy Secretary-General).
IUDPO representatives emphasized the need to center the rights of persons with disabilities in all international and national agendas. The summit reinforced global commitments to take concrete steps toward an inclusive society.
